Materials Malfunction #101419

System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.19044-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 512.59

Blender Version
Broken: version: 3.4.0 Alpha, branch: master, commit date: 2022-09-26 23:14, hash: 7fa7c7ceda
Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)

Short description of error
Materials appear broken. Using Blender 3.4 September 16th Build, they are fine.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
I downloaded the newest Blender 3.4 last night, loaded my project, and materials were messed up, black, shiny, etc. They appeared fine in Blender 3.4 SEP 16th Build. Has Blender made a radical change in Materials handling or changed the Nodes radically? I am hoping maybe I have a bad download of Blender. I hope it hasnt totally changed on me in the past 10 days.

I am using an SDK and it uses Nodes for its various materials types. If Nodes have radically changed, then that might explain this.

Kind regards,

Bill

Hi, thanks for the report. Do you've reliable way to reproduce the problem?
Please upload a simple .blend file for the further investigation.
Is that a rendering problem or material itself is affected (in material properties tab)?

Hello Pratik,

The problem seems to be both Materials 'and' rendering. The materials with Build Sep 27th became blackish and shiny that were normally non shiny dirty rubber color (one material in particular). Very high reflections and very dark colors. Before, they were photographic, working perfectly.

I will be downloading the newest version of 3.4 later today and see if perhaps it is fixed, since it was working fine on the 16th Build.

I'll take some key parts from the scene and export them to a new scene as a sample and upload them for you to check out.

Bill

ok, thanks for the update. Don't hesitate to reopen the report if problem reappears in newer build.
