Insert Boundary option not working when inserting objects #103172

System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.22621-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: AMD Radeon(TM) Graphics ATI Technologies Inc. 4.5.14802 Core Profile Context 21.40.52.09 30.0.14052.9003

Blender Version
Broken: version: 3.4.0, branch: blender-v3.4-release, commit date: 2022-12-06 18:46, hash: a95bf1ac01
Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)

Short description of error
When I want to make an insert with the boundary option on an object that uses a mirror and subdivision modifier, the object does not create the boundary I want. When I extruded the object I get two stretched parts instead of one when I insert the object with the boundary option on.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Open Blend file
Select the front part of the model facing Y axis that sticks out a little it and try to insert it with the boundary option on and you will see that it is not inserting the way it is supposed to be inserting.
[Please describe the exact steps needed to reproduce the issue]Anvil Redo 4 .blend
[Based on the default startup or an attached .blend file (as simple as possible)]

Thanks

Ahmed

Hi, thanks for the report. I might have misunderstood but are we talking about Inset faces operation here?

Thanks for the update. As far as I can tell, this is expected since you're performing operation on individual face.
Workaround is to increase Merge value from mirror modifier panel.
For help using Blender, please try one of the community websites: https://www.blender.org/community/
If you think you found a bug, please submit a new report and carefully follow the instructions. Be sure to provide system information, Blender version, and a .blend file with exact steps to reproduce the problem.

tagging @mano-wii in case I've misunderstood this.

I'm not quite sure I understand the problem.
As far as I know, the inset operation is not affected by modifiers. It only sees the edited mesh.
And the specified face is not a boundary, so the Boundary option makes no difference in this case.

This face in the image below would have to be removed to make the other boundary:
