Crash on applying Boolean difference modifier #33001

%%%Crash happens sometimes on adding the Object in a Boolean Difference modifier, and always when clicking Apply (if it did not crash on adding the object). Blender file used is attached, dramaMasks.blend.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open dramaMasks.blend
  2. Select happy, happy.001, sad, sad.001
  3. Ctrl-J to join them
  4. Select Cube (Boolean modifier is already attached to the Cube, but no Object is selected)
  5. Set the Object to the object joined together in step 2. Blender may crash immediately.
  6. If Blender does not crash, once the modifier is active, click Apply. Blender will crash.

There was one known place where blender could have been crashed and it was fixed in svn rev51897. Please test builds newer than this revision and report back if it's crashing for you.

%%%I'm using the latest from Buildbot (52150), and having the same issue. At least, I think I'm using the latest. The way I'm installing it may be causing problems? I open the .zip and copy everything from it directly over the contents of the C:\Program Files\Blender Foundation\Blender folder. It runs after doing that.

It does eventually complete the difference operation, although at extremely slow speed, taking over 5 minutes when selecting the object to modify with, and over 10 when clicking apply. I'll submit another bug with that issue. Thank you!%%%
