Blender messes up the Render output if the Render border is animated. #34090

- Hello Guys,

If you use Rendering Border (with cropping disabled) Blender should place the rendered part at the correct spot of the full resolution image and make the rest transperent. This works fine with stills but not if you animate the border position. It renders the right part of the image but it places it in (random?!?) spots in the full resolution image.
I'm not really sure if this is really a bug or just a not existing feature. ---

- If you just render the simple animation in the attached .blend file you should see, that Blender places the rendered result in unexspected places. ---

I would love to see this fixed/added.

Thanks

Oliver

%%%This is one of the features that was never meant to be animated... the render engine has an initialize step (before animation) keeping this information internally static.
You can also not change render output size during animation. Such aspects are part of the 'state' of the engine, and needed for rendering out to movie streams for example.

BTW: using render border always renders in 'cropped' size, but without 'crop' set it inserts the image in the full black output size in end.

I'll commit code that will disable users from adding animated borders now. Sorry for not having better news!%%%

%%%Dear Ton,

It's sad to hear that you want to disable users from adding animated borders.

I wrote an addon that used the animated border for distributed single frame rendering with the network renderer.

I included my addon in the attachments.
