%%%--- Operating System, Graphics card ---

Ubuntu 12.10 amd64
GeForce GTX670
FFmpeg 1.0.3

- Blender version with error, and version that worked ---

r54418

- Short description of error ---

When a scene strip in VSE is muted by keyframes, Blender generates a movie file including unwanted result.

- Steps for others to reproduce the error (preferably based on attached .blend file) ---

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Start Blender and use default scene (default cube)
  2. Disable "use_sky" in render layer panel
  3. Change output format to movie (such as H.264)
  4. Change screen to "Video Editing"
  5. Add scene strip at channel=2, frame=1
  6. Add color strip at channel=1, frame=1, and adjust its length
  7. Change blend type of the scene strip to "Alpha Over"
  8. Set keyframes for muting the scene strip as follows:
  frame=  1: mute=ON
  frame= 51: mute=OFF
  frame=101: mute=ON
  1. Render the movie (Ctrl+F12)

The frames 1-100 are correctly rendered, but 101- are broken.
After disabling the channel 2, only the channel 1 should be used, but the last rendered frame of the scene strip is used instead.

If output format is images such as PNG, the blending is correctly works.

Attached vse_scene_strip_mute_bug.blend and blender_vse_scene_strip_mute_bug.avi.

BTW, keyframes of the strip properties cannot be rewritten when using VSE preview... Is this a intended behavior?

%%%Fixed in svn rev54425.

Issue with keyframing when using scene strip and preview is active is a known issue and there's no simple fix for it currently.%%%

%%%Thanks for the fix and the explanation! Movie file is correctly generated now.

However, the image viewer still shows the last frame of the muted scene strip...
Could you fix this too?

%%%I do not understand the issue. What "image viewer" is and what's wrong with what it's displaying?%%%

%%%Ah, sorry... What I mean is "UV/Image Editor" that pops up to show the render result.
It should show the same images as the movie output but still uses the muted, unused scene strip.

%%%This is indeed strange that Sequencer layer is not displaying properly. Would check on it further.%%%

%%%I do have patch which seems to be working and even correct, but want Ton or Brecht double-check on it. It's bcon4 and this change could lead to some unexpected things which i could possibly missed.%%%

%%%Commited patch to svn rev54490. Now everything shall be fine.

Please let me know if something doesn't work still.

For until then considering issue as resolved :)%%%
