Stationary Particle system - particle Y axis fails to follow emitter object rotation #36093

%%%In the attached blend file, if you rotate the icosphere (labelled Rotate Me), you should see that the particles on the object rotate unusually. The particles do not rotate as expected on the Y axis. The Z and X axis rotations of the particles seems to work perfectly fine.

also, the problem only occurs if you rotate the icosphere on the X or Y axis. If you rotate the icosphere on the Z axis, the problem does not seem to occur.

I have labelled the axes of the particles to make the axis of rotation as clear as possible.

In conclusion, the unusual rotation of the particles seems to be related to the Y axis alone.

For these particles, the rotation mode is set to "normal" and the physics is set to "none" (stationary object particles).

%%%There are still some issues though unfortunately. If you scrub through the timeline in the new attached blend "Y_axis_rotation_particle_bugreport_updated.blend" I think you will see the problem. The particles on the Z axis of the cube seem to be confused, they flip back and forth on their Y axis as the cube is rotated. This problem only seems to occur for particles which are on a completely flat Z plane. As you will see, all the particles on the other faces of the cube appear to rotate perfectly well. Also, all the particles on the icoshere work perfectly as well. It is just those few particles on the Z plane of the cube. Also, try rotating the plane in the scene, you will see the same problem.
