I seem to have tracked down the cause for the 'disappearing models' in sculpt mode #37387

%%%--- Operating System, Graphics card ---MacOS, Radeon 6670m

- Blender version with error, and version that worked ---

So far as I know it affects all of them on Mac OS anyways.

- Short description of error ---

This error has been reported before by at least one other person but was not reproducible.

Often a model will completely disappear from the view in sculpt mode and no amount of rotating and searching can find it again. The only way to get it back into view is to enter object mode then tap the 'numpad period' key to center it again.

- Steps for others to reproduce the error (preferably based on attached .blend file) ---

No blend file is necessary, what you have to do is have multiple objects that are near each other and then enter sculpt mode with only one of them selected. As usual, making a brush stroke and then tapping the numpad period key will zoom in on the stroked location. Stroking on one of the unselected objects and then tapping the numpad period key should have no effect as expected.

The error occurs when you make a stroke that starts on the selected object and which then continues across one of the unselected objects. Now when you tap numpad period, the entire model disappears from the view.

%%%I just found out that to reproduce this error multiple objects are not needed. The stroke just has to move past the silhouette edge of the selected object.%%%

This is a problem with the zoom operator, not sculpt mode vanishing models which I expect may have to do with some invalid operation on vertex buffers. Still this is a valid bug that should be fixed.
