2.77 RC2 (Fluid) Particle Baking slower compared to 2.67b. #47763

System Information
Intel Core i7 3930K (4GHz, 6Cores, 12Threads), NVidia GTX980. 16GB DDR3-1600.

Blender Version
Broken: Blender 2.77 RC2 64bit (Hash: 1e1118e)
Also tested in build from graphicall.org http://www.graphicall.org/444 (2.77 f65c08c)
Worked: Blender 2.76b 64bit (Hash f337fea)

Short description of error
Baking time of particles is up to 25% higher compared to 2.76b even though it is supposed to be faster due to the change here: https://developer.blender.org/rBc1b76285eef7ab907431c7a539df4b91d969f69e
My guess is this change is responsible for the slower bake time.

CPU usage is also a lower, ramps up slower and never fully reaches 100%.

Quick comparison of a test scene:

My used test file: untitled.zip

I also tested this with a 400k (2x 200k) particle simulation, 100 frames, showed the same time increase in 2.77 RC2.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Create a particle simulation with fluid particles. (Higher amount recommended.)
Bake it on 2.77 RC2.
Open file in 2.76b and bake again.
Compare bake times in console.

Forgot to name my OS: Windows 10 64bit (v1511)
And in the image is a small error, it should say Blender 2.77 RC2 instead of Blender 2.77 RC.

This si due to switching from dynamic to static schedule… Looks like dynamic is better for heavy, non-homogeneous simulations, while static gives much better results with smaller, homogeneous ones… For now will just switch back to original dynamic scheduling as it was with OpenMP.
