System Information
Win7 x64, AMD R9280 with 16.3.2

Blender Version
Broken: 8de3303

Short description of error
Cycles leak memory while rendering animations

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Render the default scene with cycles an GPU/OpenCL as animation, and watch in task manager Blender's memory usage. The 250 frames are enough to see the problem. Set the samples to 1 to speed up.

Start blender with factory settings of course to see it's not due to an addon or custom layout.

Does it happen with 2.77a as well?

Yes it does, also on 2.76. So it's an old leak.

Edit: was wrong, forgot to set on GPU after a factory start, rendering at 32x32 resolution gives a 4GB leak in 10sec after rendering 250 frames of the default cube.

Can't confirm on Linux+Nvidia card, but will test Windows+AMD card shortly.

I can reproduce the issue on Windows, but currently not sure what exactly causes the leak. It's almost like driver caches some stuff in application and never frees it, even when closing the whole OpenCL context. Would need to do some deeper investigation.

Reproduced the issue with much simpler application - [x]. Number of iterations a bit high there because amount of leak depends on kernel size. I've reported this issue to AMD and hopefully they'll acknowledge it and resolve. We can't fix it from Blender side anyway.

So thanks for the report, but afraid at this point we can't do anything.

Thank you Sergey. Can you report here when it's fixed or give a link to the AMD thread?
