System Information
Arch Linux x86_64, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti
OS X 10.11, NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M

Blender Version
Broken: Linux 2.78c e92f235283
Broken: OS X 2.78c e92f235
Broken: OS X 2.77a abf6f08

Short description of error
I created a mask in blender, but it moves around when I zoom in and out. For different zoom levels, the mask appears in a different location. See below for an illustration.

My mask at 2:1 zoom:

At 1:1 zoom (notice that the mask moved down and to the left

At 1:2 zoom:

At 1:8 zoom (the mask is no longer surrounding the subject):

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Blend file:
{F584556, layout=inline}
Minimal working movie clip (referenced in blend file:
{F584557, layout=link}

  1. With GOPR1630.mov in the same directory as mask.blend, open mask.blend.
  2. Zoom out in the Movie Clip Editor and observe the mask move from its original position.

Other notes
On my Linux machine, unchecking Display Stabilization in the Movie Clip Editor will allow me to zoom without affecting the position of the mask.

On my OS X machine, Blender cannot load the .mov file, but I can still reproduce the error using the steps above. Unchecking Display Stabilization will fix the error, even if I uncheck and check again.

The amount the mask moves when zooming seems proportional to how much track point Track.002 (used for camera stabilization) moves between frames.

I have asked the same question on Stack Overflow: https://blender.stackexchange.com/q/78820/38689
