System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.19041-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 442.92

Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.90.0 Beta, branch: master, commit date: 2020-07-23 18:40, hash: 9cbf43801b
Worked: it works on 2.83 with this file.

Short description of error
When I start rendering doesn't load the assets even if I wait a while. I try to cancel, the program freezes and I have to force quit. Render preview sitll works. The same file renders if I open in 2.83.

This file is too complex. Can you simplify this file as much as possible by removing objects and materials while still keeping the bug present?

Testing the file on todays build.
Broken: version: 2.90.0 Beta, branch: master, commit date: 2020-07-28 16:46, hash: d8919d12f7

Deleted most of the assets. It doesn't even get stuck to start the render anymore, it just crashes after 20-30 seconds. Same file in 2.83 it takes around 3 minutes to start but it renders.

File is now 30mb. :)

This looks really like out of memory issue. Can you verify, that you have free RAM and VRAM when you try to render this file?

Restarted the computer, opened only Blender and the issue occurs the same. I think it's a 2.90 bug because the same file renders on 2.83 even if I have a bunch of stuff opened... It's 8gb of VRAM and 64GB of RAM for a 31mb file. :(

It's not really about file, but rather geometry.

My point is, that I can not check if there is significant regression on machine with much less RAM than you have. So it would be best to identify object that does this and triage that as a regression.

We don't really have time to do this, so if you can identify where the regression is, it would help us to speed up the process

1:20 and it started rendering in 2.83. Now it's 10 minutes stuck on 0% with no loading signal. Tried to cancel and it crashed.

It crashes on both CUDA and OptiX. On CPU it starts rendering after a while.

This is as far as I can get with the bug. If I delete the hair or the clothes it starts rendering. I don't know what else I can do to inspect the file, but I hope this helps. It's pretty small now. :)

Thanks for further simplification. I have tried to render on 2.83.3 and 2.91 and compared peak mem usage during render:

2.83.3: 6123M
2.91: 4298M

So there seems to be no regression in memory usage

The fact that this happens on CUDA is important. But I don't have nvidia card to check. @lichtwerk can you reproduce the issue here?

@GabrielMoro I am looking at older reports, is this still an issue? Or have anything changed?
