System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.19041-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: GeForce RTX 3090/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 461.40

Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.92.0, branch: master, commit date: 2021-02-24 16:25, hash: 02948a2cab
Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)

Short description of error
When I do some changes to my render while in rendering mode I get this error. I have to quit Blender and reopen to get it working again.
It's happening a lot in lots of ways, but I finally can reproduce it with this file.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Open the file, enter render mode, click on the rainbow object, press H to hide. The error is consistent.

Same error here. Doesn't happen every time, but very often - either when deleting or hiding geometrry in the rendered/shaded viewport.

Blender 2.92

This has never happened before, have used every release since Blender since 2.82.

For me it only happens when I toggle / uncheck the highest collection in the hierarchy by clicking on the "eye"-symbol. Toggling the seperate collections via keyboard (1,2,3,...) is surprisingly not causing the issue, only clicking by mouse.
My setup:

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-9850H with 64 GB RAM
  • eGPU: NVidia RTX 3080 with 10 GB VRAM (running on seperate Monitor)

The error in my log is:

CUDA_ERROR_ILLEGAL_ADDRESS in cuStreamSynchronize(cuda_stream[thread_index]) (device_optix.cpp:816)

I have the same error. It doesn't happen if I am far away from the scene, but when I get closer to the object and click the hide icon in the hierarchy it throws the error:

CUDA_ERROR_ILLEGAL_ADDRESS in cuStreamSynchronize(cuda_stream[thread_index]) (device_optix.cpp:816)

My setup:

  • OS: Windows 10 Home 64-bit
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070
  • Blender: 2.92.0

Also, if other objects are unrelated to the error, please remove them and try to simplify the file as much as possible.
