Short description of error

  • The Color Ramp Node in Geometry Nodes outputs a Color, not an Image (so the text and the screenshot need to be corrected).
  • Both examples, "Creating an Alpha Mask" and "Colorizing an Image" relate to Compositor Nodes, not Geometry Nodes, so they should be removed.

Geometry Nodes outputs a Color, not an Image

Thanks for the report. Only the manual part is not updated. Confirming the report.

Compositor Nodes, not Geometry Nodes, so they should be removed.

Not sure if this change is required.

I agree with Denis here. The Geonodes > Color Ramp Node is not the same as the Compositor variant and shouldn't just copy its documentation page.

  • Aside from the "Image" label, the node screenshot shows the wrong type of sockets (single values instead of Fields)
  • The examples expect the reader to be familiar with the compositor nodes used, when they may only be looking for geonodes-related info. Same goes for the Shader Nodes > Converter > Color Ramp page.

I have changed the text to read "Standard color output"

In the future, other node systems will use fields so I don't think the issue of the screenshot is an issue of concern right now.

We could also add an example that is more geo-node-focused. If the community has a useful example to include here I can include it but until then I'm going to consider this closed.
