Hi, thanks for the report. This looks similar to #83199 (Blender crashes when adding a particle system to a mesh object and switching the type to Hair)

Can you please confirm? Crash happens for specific file only or is this something you can reproduce on default startup?

Happens for me on default startup with 2.93.4 and with today's latest build (2.93.5 Release Candidate).

Hi, does the crash happen when particle type is switched to Hair?

Not clear with reproducing steps and description of the reported issue so I fear to merge this in #83199. Can you please clarify?

Yes, seems to be the same as described in the first scenario of #83199:

1 - Start Blender
2 - Select "New File > General" from the opening splash screen
3 - Select the "Particle Properties" tab
4 - Click the "+" symbol to add a particle system slot
5 - Click on the "Hair" button under "Particle System Settings"
6 - CRASH

Crash does not happen with Blender 2.83.17.

Hope that helps. Happy to provide further info if needed.
