Glare Filter Problem with Full Frame Compositing #91314

Closed
opened 2021-09-10 14:09:16 +02:00 by Steffen Dünner · 11 comments

System Information
Operating system: Linux-5.11.0-34-generic-x86_64-with-glibc2.31 64 Bits
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 470.57.02

Blender Version
Broken: version: 3.0.0 Alpha, branch: master, commit date: 2021-09-10 11:28, hash: 60cfdf0809
Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)

Short description of error
When switching the Compositor from "Tiled" to "Full Frame" the Glare node gives a wrong result when set to "Medium" or "Low".
The resulting glare looks like it's scaled down to half or quarter size depending on the quality setting. "Full" shows no problems.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • Open the attached blend file:
  • Make sure "Full Frame Compositor" is activated in the "Experimental" options
  • Press F12. It renders some bright spots and afterwards applies a Glare set to medium.
  • In "Tiled" mode it looks like it should:
    Comp_Tiled.png
  • Switch to "Full Frame" under options and re-render.
  • Only the inner part of the image gets glared
    Comp_FullFrame.png

If you set the quality of the Glare to "Low", the area that shows the effect is even halved

Hi, thanks for the report. I can reproduce this on master: .b5a1c194c5dd

But unable to open the file with older versions (want to check if this is regression)

Also: I'm not quite sure if tracker is open for the experimental feature bugs.

Ah, my fault. I saved the blend file with compression enabled which now uses Zstd in master. I can re-upload the blend file again without compression or you could open it in master and re-save it with compression disabled so you can open it in older versions of Blender again.

I saved the blend file with compression enabled

Hi, thanks for briefing. Reuploaded the file. Behavior is even same for older 3.0.0 builds (tested with: 4891da8ae2, commit date: 2021-06-16)

Also: I'm not quite sure if tracker is open for the experimental feature bugs.

Hi @lichtwerk , I am not sure about this case. Can you please check this?
