Blender 3.1 MacOS 12.3 crash on viewport display #97487

Operating system: MacOS 12.3
Graphics card: Radeon RX480

Blender Version
Broken: 3.1.2
Worked: 3.0

Short description of error
As of the 3.1 update, some of my heavier projects and compositions are crashing when moving around on the viewport, I doubt this is related to the new Metal integration added on 3.1 because I tested this with the metal hardware disabled and enabled, I was even able to do cycles previews on gpu and cpu with no crash as long as the viewport isn't moved or rotated.
Does not matter if I switch to wireframe view or any preview, switching to eevee, etc. My entire Mac freezes and it takes about 20 seconds before blender crashes and the whole computer starts responding again. The freezing can happen whenever something that changes the viewport happens, such as hiding meshes, rotating, etc, even once it crashed when I switched to the modifier menu and hovering the mouse on the viewport.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
After finishing calculation, anything that does a change on the viewport.

As an update, I noticed Hair Particles might be the cause, I was working on a new model and the hair particles on higher values like using the childs can freeze and crash blender at any time it's trying to render it on any of the preview modes. It seems like it crashes before it's able to load any hair strings

We need reporter to narrow down the problem. Large files are not useful for identifying the issue.

While I was doing a model yesterday I experienced this same crash after adding hair particles, same as I describe, whenever there's too many hair strings on a model, it begins to freeze trying to load them with chances of crashing. I should note this did not happened to me on Blender 3.0 and started to occur as of 3.1

Hi, here is another report complaining about the same (freeze after increasing hair count): #97542 (Regression: Hair Particles Freeze Entire MacOS!)
Can you check if this is same as yours? If so, I'll merge your report.
Also I need to ask someone to test this on Mac.

Yes it seems to be the same case, mine does not force me to reboot my Mac however, it does freezes my entire system but takes at least a full minute before Blender closes and the system responds normally again
