This might be expected behavior then, just giving this high prio, so we hear back from devs if this is really expected.
Short description of error
In Blender 3.1, generated faces are more evenly proportioned, with a smoother contour.
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Compare the following .blend file in both 3.1 and 3.2.
Bevel Weight - mixed weights test.blend
Kind regards.

Hi, thanks for the report.
I can notice some differences. Checking...

If this is expected behavior, it should be mentioned in the release notes https://wiki.blender.org/wiki/Reference/Release_Notes/3.2/Modeling

Both the bevel modifier and operation were changed from 3.1 to 3.2. See: #97940 and #95916.
However I'm pretty sure that the bevel still doesn't work as expected due to the aforementioned bugs not yet being fixed, possibly leading to further problems down the road.
In the 3.2 version for example you can see that the edges protrude, whereas in the 3.1 version it doesn't which might be caused by #97940.

Blender version 3.2.1 stable - still not working properly.

Hi @howardt, Greatly admire your mathematical prowess.
Read with interest you are working on Bevel V2 , until completed, (if
94866ef84f
is the cause) how do you and @HDMaster84 feel about reverting this commit for Blender 3.3, until Bevel V2 is ready?Thank you kindly for your time and help.
After consulting with Henrik, we agreed with your idea, because it looks like it will be complicated to fix all the cases merged in here.

Thank you Howard and Henrik, much appreciated. Look forward to being able to use Blender 3.3 with all the new updated features (had to skip 3.2).
Kind regards.

What is the resolution? Is there a version I can download where the problem is fixed?
The resolution was just to go back to the state before the change that improved some continuity problems but caused a number of regressions. Tomorrow's daily build of 3.4 alpha and 3.3 beta will have the fixed (reverted) code. https://builder.blender.org/download/daily/
Oh, okay, thought so, just assumed the fix was in today's 3.3 beta, downloaded it and saw that it's still broken. Thank you.

Thank you kindly Howard (apologies unable to say so sooner).
Pray your Bevel V2 refactor goes smoothly, and with great issue solving clarity.
Hi @howardt, Do you feel is would be beneficial adding a comment to the 3.3 release notes?
Possible draft:
'.x' is intended to be replaced with whichever revision you feel is most suitable.
Kind regards.
Just wanted to comment that the issue hasn't been completely resolved (3.3), but what I accidentally noticed today is that bevel functions fine on default Blender startup cube, but when I create a new cube and do the bevel it breaks. Attached screenshot, with the default cube shown on the right.
Edit: I'm behind #100181 report which was merged here, so the issue arises after the steps mentioned there.
