I'd go even further and instead of getting rid of:

background: none;

I'd replace it with:

color: #000;

Making the select text black like it is on Chrome, since it seems to be too light gray (at least on my version of Firefox).

No need to "fix" the theme by setting the styles yet again. Just removing 'background: none' fixes it.

The extra step I mention to instead of just removing 'background', to also add 'color: black' is to take care of the color of the select text inside.

Just go from

.gecko select {
    background: none;


.gecko select {
    color: #000;

Problem solved.

You can't just remove "background: none",
that row is in the original theme:


As I understand it, you need to put fixes here:


So the latest patch is fine.
