useful e.g. if used in conjunction with following bevel modifier

(this is basically D2169 re-submitted through arc, updated to master, with brechts review done [except for the UI-layout, which I think in 2.8 just looks better plain as it is now...])

was looking into other boolean-modifier-related issues [e.g. T60552] and still had this lying around...

@Howard Trickey (howardt) : does this fit into your plans regarding the bevel modifier?

Nice idea, I'll test it in these days. ¿Would be hard to add a vertex group with the new vertex created? I'm thinking about using the data transfer modifier and transfer the normals from an "unbooleaned" duplicate for a perfect shading on surrounding areas.

Edit: Nevermind, I finally managed to reproduce it using the "Vertex Weight Proximity" modifier, also, I don't want to pollute the original proposal. Thanks.

What action should be taken so that this feature could be in master?
It looks like really usefull feature.
