Hello all

I have saved a Blender file with my older system without problems (Blender file with particle system). Viewport shader is very reponsive.

When I save the same file with my new system, the viewport shader is extremely slow

Old system : Windows 10 - Core i7-11850H@2.50 GHz - Nvidia RTX A2000 laptop GPU
New system ; Windows 10 - Core i9 - 12900 - Nvidia Geforce RTX 3090

I upload both files{F14002823}

saved old computer.blend

saved_ new_computerV1.blend

I can reproduce slow update rate. Can you provide exact steps how this can be reproduced?

So I create a totally new blend file

  1. add first a plane
  2. then append a tree (with leaves from another file)
  3. then I made Instances Real (for the leaves)
  4. then apply the Particle System modifier (for the leaves)
  5. join (CTRL+J) the leaves and tree together
  6. then put a particle system on the plane (with Hair) choose for "render as object" the tree
  7. from now on everything in the viewport shading (in the solid mode) is extremely slowing down.

When I do the same on the older computer (Core i7-11850H@2.50 GHz - Nvidia RTX A2000 laptop GPU) I have no problem.
When I open this file (created on the old computer) on the new computer (with RTX3090) also no problem.
But if I create this file on the new computer everything slows down in viewport shading (in the solid mode - not in the Viewport shading rendering mode)

Strange if I open this file (created on the new computer (RTX3090) on the old computer also everything is slowing down on the old computer

To summarize :
saved old computer.blend = file I created on the old computer with the RTXA2000
saved_new_computerV1.blend = file created on the new computer with the RTX3090 but is extremely slowing down, even if I open this one on the old computer :-(

If I open the file "saved old computer.blend" on the old or the new computer - > no problems

Some screeshots added

Can you explain mre in detail step 2 - then append a tree (with leaves from another file)? I can't follow such step here.
I would assume that issue may be, that asset may be broken in one case? Can you check if you use exact same data from single source? Also to reporduce this issue by developers, you need to provide all data necessary to reproduce the issue.

Hello Richard,

I made two videos (which explains the action I did)
One video with the notebook with RTXA2000. Here no problem, no lagging, everything perfect.
The second video (exact the same actions) but on my computer with the RTX3090. Here at the end a lot of lagging.... and this in Viewport shading (Solid mode). If I switch to Viewport shading (Render Mode)... i don't have the problem. So only in the Solid Mode. Strange because i have a processor I9 with 64 Gb RAM.
All data are the same on both computers.

I send you also the blender file with the lagging problem. Even if I open this file on the notebook with the RTXA2000 the same lagging problems.

Can you upload both files branchV1.blend from both computers, even if they are same? Also check if this happens on lagging machine when you click on File > Defaults > Load Factory Setting.
