AVCHD files (24Mb/S)

Description

These files are straight out of a Canon Vixia HF11. Only very recently VLC Media Player has been able to play them, and I understand Blender, like VLC, uses ffmpeg to decode them.

I tried them on Blender 2.48a in both Windows XP (official download from blender.org) and Ubuntu 9.04 (via apt-get).

The decoding is not right. They appear distorted, with block-like artefacts.

Attached is one file for you to test.

Thank you.

We indeed depend on fffmpg, but don't update ffmpg all the time. Each update causes our devs a lot of headaches to make it work again. I'll put this on our todo to check when we update ffmpg again (for 2.5 probably).

Thank you very much for the quick reply. I understand update headaches and do not expect any special efforts for this issue in particular. I assume that this ticket will be updated when you update ffmpg and I look forward to contribute with some more testing if necessary.

Bassam's inspiring speech at <http://river-valley.tv/video-editing-with-blender-for-non-3d-artists-using-examples-from-real-projects/> got me hooked. Until then I perceived a void in Free graphics software. Now I know that there is also a good video editor.
