Conversion of extruded text into mesh causes problems when used to animate as soft body #26956

Okay, this is a tricky one, although I found a way to bypass that bug.

First attempt (failed): Add a text object → extrude it to a 3D text → convert it into a mesh object → apply soft body as physics to it → start the animation (ALT + A).
Result: After the first frame the object disappeared from the scene, I saw that for other frames the dimensions parameters had weird values (huge negative values, see my screenshot). I repeated that procedure with the same result.

Second attempt (success): Add a text object → then FIRST convert it into a mesh (as 2D) → and then extrude that mesh object → rest as before.
Result: the animation worked!

So, maybe not even worth mentioning – apparently, the problem was that the conversion of an extruded text object into a mesh failed.

I'm using the latest release of blender (2.57) on a Win XP with an NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT graphics card.%%%

%%%This issue isn't text's related. it caused by soft body self collision setting which doesn't like separated faces with some vertices have the same coordinates (this happend when converting extruded text to mesh), I've simplified case to default cube.%%%

%%%Ah, nice - obviously, that was the critical issue! I just tried that out: When I remove doubled vertices from the mesh, it works!
