Border select(B key) does't use the shift key #28170

%%%Hey!

When you press B...the expected outcome is for the border select mode to activate. That works. But if you press B... then hold shift to deselect some vertices, it doesn't work. You need to use the mouse middle-click for that. It would be more intuitive with the shift key.

Here is the real problem: in the user prefs. You can go in the input tab and search for border select then in the 3d view border select, remove the extend check mark.
What happens is that using box select now unselect everything except what you selected with the box select. Which is good. But then using the middle mouse button to "add" the new selection doesn't do anything. Holding shift does nothing either.

The tool is else bugged or just awkward to use.

My suggestion: bring in the shift key to invert the selection mode you are in. The extend check mark is perfect to select the default state you prefer. But using the middle mouse button is not intuitive(for me at least) and doesn't work in one of the 2 cases.

Another suggestion by another user of the #blender chatroom that i think makes sense: A good and faster way you be to use the b button(or whatever you map it to) to immediately start the selection from where your cursor is, meaning not having to press B then hold left click. You just hold B or shift B and draw the selection. When you let go of the b... the selection happens. Shift B could do the contrary of the default action(add or remove which depends on your user prefs).

It's a mix between a bug and a feature request i guess.

What do you guys think?%%%

%%%The issue is that the border select tool uses MMB as a builtin default, it's not keymappable yet.
In blender, holding shift on border select never worked, in 2.4 it was RMB for deselect.

All nice todo items... with 200 open bugs here we really have enough bigger failures to work on too :)%%%
