System Information
OS X 10.9.0

Blender Version
Broken: 2.64a – 2.69 r60991
Worked (partially): 2.64 r51026

Short description of error
Particle Info Node doesn't work for particle systems which have Children enabled.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • Open attached blend file
  • Switch Viewport Shading to Rendered

From the Children area of the Particles tab of the Properties window, switch between 'None' and 'Simple'.

When children are off, the emitted cube is rendered blue as it should be according to it's material. When children are on, the particle info node seems to always return 0 rendering the cubes red.
I haven't tested this for all sockets of the particle info node, but I've tested all official releases until the very first official Blender version which included the particle info node. It turns out that this version is the only one where the particle info node has an influence when using children. Although the children themselves are immutable. I believe it should work all the same for the children as well.

Ideally this would work for child particles as well, but currently this node only supports parent particles.
