Maybe you have a corrupted file on your Desktop which crashes Blender?

Try 2 things please:

  • Open File Browser in Non-Thumbnail mode (list or so), before you change to Desktop
  • Remove all files from your Desktop (move somewhere else) and try again.

Without further info we cannot fix that, we need a way to reproduce the issue or get a backtrace.

I think you're correct about it being a corrupt file. I took everything off of my desktop and it seemed to fix the problem. Then, I put the files back and the problem reoccured, but when I took away most of the files and left a few, the problem went away again.. Also, thumbnail mode seemed to have been when the crash was happening, because when I changed it to the short list, there was no crash, whatsoever. Thank you for clearing that up for me.

@Brandon Farley (farcgs), it would still be good to know which file crashes, could you find which file it is and upload it?

One week without news, closing.
