System Info
Windows 7 (Blender Installed on Kingston DTSE9 Flash Drive 8 GB) 32-Bit

Broken: (2.7)

When I load the 1st image to a UV Sphere as a texture it works fine. The image is a 10800 x 5400 about is about 7 mb. When I load my second image as a texture it either says Cannot Load Image on this image, or it can, but can't load the image on the 1st texture. The second image is about he same ratio and is about 5 mb.

Hi,

your textures are huge...
The size of the textures is 7 MB on disk (JPEG I guess) but when loaded into blender the texture takes much more ram than on your disk.
In theory your 10800x5400 pixel jpeg is decoded into a bitmap with 32bits per pixel, that should be about 1866240000 bits (=~222,5 MB) !

Please try the following steps:

  • Please have look into the taskmanager while loading the images. (how much ram does blender use?)
  • Try to resize the textures (maybe half size?) before loading them. (Does this solve the problem?

If possible try if a 64bit build of blender does the job wit the original 10800x5400 textures.

I guess you are running into an out of memory error here.
