baking: warning messages are unclear
Closed, ArchivedPublic

Description

Blender Version
Broken: 2.70 f93bc76
Worked: (optional)

Short description of error
sorry, can only give a case example. In my case, it was "No objects or images found to bake to". It took me several hours of working time to find out that I accidentally toggled renderability of the object off...

In this case, something like "warning: one or more of the selected objects is set non-renderable. Please check in the outliner" or so would help a lot,
A more typlical case: "warning: one or more vertices of the selected object xxx are not assigned to an image...." or so...

I know that this is not purely a bug, but as it's something similar, I think it is good to file a report. If not, I apologize.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. unwrap and texture an object, make texture the active one
  2. switch the renderability off in outliner
  3. try to bake

This is indeed not a bug. And trying to make warning messages matching each and every situation would be way to much work, many things can make a bake fail…
