System Information
OS: Ubuntu 14.04
Linux kernel: 3.13.0-24-generic
Blender Version
Broken: blender-2.71-a8233d7-linux-glibc211-x86_64
Short description of error
I've enabled "Use Nodes" in the Node Editor and in the Render context of the Properties window, I've enabled Compositing (in the Post Processing Panel). Instead of rendering the input to the Composite node (the input being a solid color), it renders my 3D scene, as if compositing were off.
I have a Render Layer node not connected to anything. Strangely, if I delete that node, then it won't even render the 3D scene.
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
I was unable to reproduce the error from scratch, but here is the .blend file. Just open it and hit Render and you'll see the issue.

In render view, just switch 'layer' dropdown selector from
RenderLayer
toComposite
…Thanks for the report, but not a bug, closing.
Thanks for the explanation! And sorry for the false bug report.
