System Information
64bit Windows 7 Home Premium,
Intel Core (TM) 2 Quad CPU, Q6600 @ 2.4GHz
Installed Memory: 8 Gb
Video Card: Nvidia GTX 750 Ti

Blender Version
2.73| Hash -b4d8fb5

Short description of error
We are making a game - project (demo one) - the issue appear, when I made some changes on ones of the Linked object to the main scene. I did new Save As, close the scene and the new save us won't start at all. Blender crashes on open without any warning messages. I've try check the Toggle System Console, but crash as a blink of an eye. I found blender.crash.txt in temp folder but was empty. Now we can't open the last file and continuing with our project. The last 2 saves or same scene won't open, also the recovery files too.

What I did:

  1. Restart the comp
  2. Try to run the file with different name
  3. Try to run both Backup files. ..
  4. Remove all additional add-ons (load factory settings)
  5. Try to run the last file from the prompt
  6. Deleted all temp files - connected to blender
  7. CC clean the registry for any issues
  8. Restarted again - but still doesn't work
  9. Copy the main scene of the project I did(contained all stuff in), to external drive and try to run from another computer powerful then mine: but same result, doesn't work at all
  10. Start reading articles and similar bugs(errors) around the net - I couldn't found similar issue
  11. Optimize and update driver of my Nvidia GTX 750 Ti - still no results
  12. Install the previous version of 2.72b and try run the file there - without success
  13. Uninstall blender at all and Installed again, no results

[Just to mention that for those several years of Working and Using Blender as primary 3D Software in my workflow, I haven't recognized or experienced such a glitches, bugs etc. Just Blender works perfect for me so far!]

Then, I re-open the Main Scene, which still working, I run the Toggle System Console, and this appear
BUG_simulation3.jpg
Missing meshes, missing textures etc.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Actually I can't remember well, what I did, cause I register the problem after the Blender crashes of opening the new Save As file,
I hope there is a possible way for fixing this links, or to change them somehow... without opening .blend file in Blender. For example additional Python software or application where this code relation could be redact into the file which crash on open (the scene with last updates).

However I've did experiments to simulate and catch from there the Bug is coming from, but was very difficult.
For example I've did this test, but I'm not quite sure if this will help at all

BUG_simulation1.jpg

In this preview after I linked an object (the complex one), I opened it from the linked library short button, then click Linked data, then Make Single User then go back into the container file. Save and quit. (Please look at the preview above).

After that, I opened another default scene after I linked the same object into it and try to push the short button of Linked Library, and this message appear:
BUG_simulation4.jpg
I would like to share the .blend files with you, but they are part of a commercial project which I'm not allowed to present to the public domain. Could you provide me an external link for contacts, where I can send the files. Because I'm new here, I couldn't find any information and contacts for this question, so I'm asking directly here.

Based on a (as simple as possible) attached .blend file with minimum amount of steps

  1. Open file MAIN LEVEL_optimizing_01_17_2015
  2. Make new Save As, close current file.
  3. Open new Save As file - (won't work), and crash on open.

However currently I've fix this with simple change of paths from Relative to Absolute, than back to Relative again. Also I've made new File-paths on properties panel| file paths, also into the same working file I've unlinked manually all meshes and materials. And try with new Save As, after all, the new Save As file open and it work.

Our problem is how to fix file MAIN LEVEL_optimizing_01_18_2015, with our current updates of meshes and UV's and textures...
Is there any options to fixing this issue without opening the .blend file into blender, instead of this to open in kind of Python based application or program for changing the Links relations, or removing it by editing (redact) the code?

Really Sorry about the long explanation, don't know how to describe it shortly!

Well, for a start, there is no file at all in this report… please attach them here.

Also, the report itself is not really clear, but if I have understood it well, you have a corrupted broken file - this we cannot do much about, what we need in this case is a clear way to reproduce that corruption…

Hello Bastien, and thank you for this quick reply!

Like I mention it in the report, that this file is a part of commercial project, and I'm not allowed to share it public, but I could share it with you guys - the development team, as external link or another option which work for you. We spend a lot of time building it so far.
I think the file is not corrupt, just need kind of debugging.

Tell me please, is it ok an another kind for contact and transfer the file for you guys?
Greetings,

Ivaylo

Eeeek, sorry, missed your answer somehow… :/

You can upload the file on a private share (googledrive allows that, at least) and mail me link/password to montagne29 at/chez wanadoo.fr.

Hello Julian and Bastien,
Because of the project deadline, I already found a solution of our issue. Thanks a lot!
