Ubuntu 14.04 x64, core i5 750, Nvidia GTX 260, driver 340.76(has bug), Windows 8.1 intel atom 3735F, Intel graphics (work correct)
Blender Version
Broken: 2.74 RC3 8804e64, RC2, RC1 - x64-x86
Worked: 2.73 bbf09d9

Short description of error
Little circle in viewport when camera settings selected a orthographic view. Circle not see on render only in viewport.
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. Default scene.
  2. View -> Camera
  3. Camera settings: orthographic

Circle is a camera center dot in a camera icon(when you see a camera in viewport). See screenshots.
I can't reproduce on notebook with windows 8.1 and other old PC with debian.

Windows 7 x64 has not reproduced, maybe a ubuntu|hardware specific glitch...

This si more than likely a driver issue, yes. Please try to start in software OpenGL mode (use the blender-softwaregl distributed with official blender, will be slow, but will show whether this is a driver issue or not).

Antony, assigning to you, since you are our viewport OGL master (and issue is related to ambiant occlusion it seems). :)

I'm not sure what I'm seeing. First of all manipulator is messed up. This really does look like a linux bug. Are you using the NVIDIA driver? What does your System_Info.txt file report? @Bastien Montagne (mont29) we really need to add instructions for system_info.txt in the template at some point.

Alright, I can see how manipulator is different in ortho mode now. But this really does look like a driver issue.

With blender-softwaregl all ok. Ambient oclusion was been enabled to show a circle position.
Two screenshots with one scenes, blender version 2.73(no glitch) & 2.74(bug present).



The circle visible, only if camera selected, because it part of camera.

Can you try with factory settings and see if the issue persists?

I deleted ~/.config/blender/2.74, this resets to default settings, and the issue persist. Tested on Blender 2.74 RC4, bug still here.

Looks driver specific and it doesn't crash, will archive for now.
