  • AMD Radeon R9 200 Series

Short description of error
The materials of the objects are not displayed in the 3d view.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • On the files menu select 'Load factory settings'
  • Select cycles renderer.
  • Click the materials button.
  • Click the 'Use nodes' button
  • Click on the selection button of the color thingy
  • Select 'Magic texture'

Open the 'Preview' panel.

  • The preview shows the selected texture.

In the 3d view select 'Material' as the 'Viewport shading'

  • The default cube in the scene is displayed a bit lighter.
  • The material is not shown, no texture is shown.

I checked with older blender versions but seems like this never worked. I'd blame our bad viewport code for this. (BI doesn't support it neither).

I guess this will be addressed in the currently ongoing viewport project, but for now this isn't no bug, it's just not supported.
