Windows: 2.74 Install issue when using limited user account and needing admin priviledges to install
Closed, ArchivedPublic

System Information
Windows 7 Pro 64-bit

Blender Version
2.74, upgraded over top of 2.73 (didn't uninstall first)

User paths are incorrect after install

My working account (dennis) is a limited user, so the blender install prompts for the administrator password to do the installation. With 2.73 there were no repercussions, but with 2.74 the path for temp files, the default "Documents" version, and the default load/save path are all \users\administrator\..etc.. instead of \users\dennis\..etc.. . Temp can be fixed through user preferences, but not the documents path.

Addendum: I've just noticed that it's also not keeping track of recent files, neither on the splash screen, nor in the File -> Recent Files menu.

I am going to uninstall and do a fresh install, and see what comes of it.

Nope. No joy. Still defaults to c:\users\administrator\documents path.

Did the COMPLETE uninstall just to be sure.

Martijn I kind of believe to remember you made some changes to the installer recently?

In any case, you should be the man to know what could happen here. :)

Bastien Montagne (mont29) renamed this task from Install issue to Windows: 2.74 Install issue when using limited user account and needing admin priviledges to install.
Bastien Montagne (mont29) triaged this task as Normal priority.

I've found that a reboot fixes the issue. Don't know if this is required when you install from a full-privilege account (probably not), but I think a warning to reboot after installing from a limited account would be good enough.

Brecht Van Lommel (brecht) closed this task as Archived.

I don't remember seeing similar reports, assuming this is fixed now or at least not possible for us to investigate further with the information we have.
