Short description of error

Rendering will render objects visible in the *3D view* specific layers (specified in the header of the 3D view), instead of objects visible in *Scene* specific layers specified in the renderlayers panel.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. Open
  2. Render
  3. The sphere will render, even though it's not on a visible scene layer. In 2.69 the Suzanne renders, in 2.75 the Sphere renders.

Thanks for the report, but no bug here, things are working as expected (i.e. using 3DView's layers when render operator is invoked from that 3DView). Global 'Scene' layers are used when hitting F12 from another window.

Working that way to have a way to quickly render different layers from different views, without having to go messing with tiny layer buttons.

I wonder if this is the best UX though, differing the behavior of the final render based on where the mouse cursor is. (and it seems a little redundant, with viewport render..)
Does the UI team have any thoughts on this?
