Worked: 2.69
see attached file. Only working Kink Option is "braid", the others dont influence the particles anymore. Works in 2.69, not in 2.70 and 2.76b

Can confirm the issue is happening with newer versions of blender but unfortunately failed to nail down the commit which changed behavior yet. Need some heavier investigation here.

Think at this point it doesn't really make much sense spending more time trying to solve existing particle problems -- that area is really hairy and fragile and run below repairable state. Particles is the subject for major refactor for 2.8x project, so will consider it a TODO for now. Thanks for the report anyway.

Hi is this fixed? If not can I just make a Helix shape curve and make that the force field instead of waiting on the kink bug fix?
Don't think it is fixed. The current particles code is basically reached its end of life and is abandoned. It is very hard to work on or make any fixes without breaking something else. We still need to schedule a particles re-write project using all the recent developments in the node-everything areas.

Can you just hide the Kink menu from the user, then? All of the non-functional/broken features in Blender that still have a functional UI element makes for a very messy, confusing user experience....
