Did you try the latest build from our buildbot? Cannot reproduce that here with current master…

OK, I will do this very detailed and see if I just gave a lame description.

open blender
shift A - add cube
tab let go
mouse to edit mode click (I know you can just hold down tab and move the mouse but I did not do it that way)
Z key press and release. Move mouse up to X on the top right to close program and click it. Now blender is in a comma.
just did it to
Linux 64 bit Official blender-2.76-8acf14c-linux-glibc211-x86_64.tar.bz2

Yeah, that what I did too, but here it just closes nicely… Could also be an issue with window manager, am using default gnome here.

Sorry I did not say. I usually do. I am using KDE 5.
I was wondering if it might be something I have turned on.
I will add my blended right before the kill.

Damm, I have to go to firefox to add a blend. Does not work in chrome.

Are the exact steps here important?
Or are any uses of the pie menu causing problems?

pie to kick a edit mode then pie to change the view mode

Isn't clear what your activating.
Is the pie menu visible when you close?

Could you check if this is specific to KDE? (try something simple like openbox).

I tried it in Gnome and had no problem. So I came back to KDE 5 and tried it and had no problem!
I did update from weekly updates to daily last night to get the latest Krita so this update must have fixed the problem.
I have no idea what was going on. I repeated the failure many times the other day.
It is NOT there today after the update.
So I guess we should close this bug.

Yes, most likely some temporary glitch in KDE5 windows manager or so…
