Blender cannot remember last used name and path while saving rendered image #47742

System Information
Intel Core i7, 8 Gb RAM, AMD Radeon HD 7700
Windows 7 x64

Blender Version
Broken: 2.77 02cabda
Worked: 2.76b f337fea

Short description of error
Blender cannot remember last used name and path while saving rendered image.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. Open Blender and render a scene
  2. Save your render by Image -> Save As Image with any name (for example: "test.png") anywhere except drive C (for example: "D:")
  3. Try to save your render again by Image -> Save As Image or Save a Copy

In 2.76 last used filename and path will be preserved (for example: "D:\test.png") and you will be able to save an increment by pressing "+" button. In 2.77 filename will be always reset to "0000" or "0001" for some reason and path will always reset to "C:". I'm not sure if this is an actual bug or that is intended, but it would be better to go back to the old behavior so it will be possible to render multiple files and save them in increments without setting name and path every time.
I've also tried to create a new image and save it and it seems to remember its last name and path; it looks like name and path resets when trying to save Render Result or Viewer Node.

Sorry for not setting proper project tags, but I'm not sure where this kind of things should belong to.

A small addendum for 2.77: I've tried to change frame number by moving timeline slider and then tried to save Render Result: filename changed from "0000" or "0001" to the number of the frame I've set (for example: "0200") while drive letter always remained at "C:". If this behavior was intended for saving frames of animation then I guess this should be expected, but I don't understand why it cannot remember the last used drive and folder. 2.76 does not react to frame changing and still show me my last used name and path.

This is an intentional change, so saving renders would be initialized to the render output filename (the path that would be written if you rendered an animation).

This is a bit of a conflict - since you may have a render output path you want to use.

Would be good to get user-module owners to give feedback.

Discussed with @venomgfx and this breaks workflow for saving incremental renders so reverting. 59c47ecf90
