Camera Switcher #48090

Switching between cameras in the 3D view is a bit fussy, as you have to find the camera and go through a menu (or press 'ctrl-Num0'). Setting up points to switch between cameras on the timeline is really not fun, as you need to create a marker, select the camera, and then bind it to the marker.

This add-on creates a list of cameras in the 'Tool Shelf', which lets you jump to each one, or insert a marker named with the current name of the camera, and the camera bound to it directly.

This is either useful as a way to jump between camera shots 'live' in a scene, in animation pre-visualisation, for navigation in archetextural or other large scenes where you want to store camera positions, and other situations.

The wiki page is: https://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Extensions:2.6/Py/Scripts/3D_interaction/Camera_Switcher{F301457}

https://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Extensions:2.6/Py/Scripts/3D_interaction/Camera_Switcher is the wiki link. For some reason it added a {} thing in the main description, and I can't edit that.

hi, are you still developing this?
I have interest in this function coupled with Stored Views addon in addons contrib.
Thanks.

I've not done much with it recently as my current projects work OK with it at it's current level.
I think there could be a lot more done to it, to work better for 'live' switching', and more convenient editing/selecting in the timeline itself.

hi, @DanielFairhead
I've ended up using camera selector by fsiddi in Stored Views addon, pretty much it was same/very similar as yours.
I did edit it so the selected camera is also the selected & active object.
Nice work on your addon, thanks for submitting.
I'll need to archive this task now as It's not going to be in contrib or release in the 2.79 series.
*I really like this tool, feel free to submit a polished version towards 2.8 release.
