Reproduceable with Blender 2.76b too. Blender 2.75 and earlier does not show this behaviour.

Can not reproduce the issue.

Does it happen with factory startup?

Yes. For 2.77 it was the factory settings.

too fast at the send button ... and at my laptop, which is another Win 7 system. Means it is reproduceable at an independant system. It also happens with every obj file that i have tested. That was my first thought, that something is wrong with the obj file. But tested with several other files, and always same result.

Are you talking about cursor permanently becoming a square with numbers or only during import/export?

Not permanently. Just during import. Once done the cursor turns back to normal.

Have a look at the also attached video. It's short, but shows the issue much better than the image :)

@Bastien Montagne (mont29), is it an expected change to report progress of import/export?

Bastien Montagne (mont29) claimed this task.

This is standard progress cursor (since addons have no access to real progress bar from jobs)… you may not care about it for small files, but when you import 10Mb's .obj you could be happy to know import is actually ongoing, and not stalled somehow…
