This is a precision error because of the last change from double to float in moto. The following commit in UPBGE fix it :

Sergey Sharybin (sergey) lowered the priority of this task from 90 to Normal.Apr 26 2016, 11:27 AM

this is still broken in latest test builds. spot lamp shadows dont work either.

simpler test file -->

<-- proving its not fault of python, custom shaders, parenting, or linked data/libload.

Windows 7 x64 - fresh install last week, minimal software, only temp monitor running.
Nvidia GTX 970 - driver 368.69 - 1920x1080
8gb RAM

2.76 series - works
2.77 series - broken

doesnt work in test builds

or am i missing something?

cant we just remove real time shadows and call it a day? honestly i would rather have no shadows then buggy ones. to me that would be an acceptable fix until this gets sorted. maybe put a little orange triangle next to the shadow check box so people dont scream.

by the way, does anyone know if this works in linux builds? maybe its an odd windows thing. currently i have more computers then hard drives so it could be a short while before i can fiddle with linux.

it seems in 2.78a the issue has been resolved for the most part. i think this can be closed

It is not yet right, example Test Sadow still flashing, however, some projects if they work well, but others do not. I can be missing something in the installation ??

I'm trying to see how some projects do well and others not, but there is no difference, I changed the camera, I changed the light, but nothing, continues to produce flicker.

In version 2.78b, it still does not work, (test Sadow.

In version 2.78c, it still does not work, (test Sadow).

In version 2.79 test build , it still does sadow not work, (test Sadow).

Experimenting with version 2.79, I discovered that tilting the camera 0. 1 degrees, the problem is corrected, you can check in the examples attached{F1087722} does this have any explanation?

Aaron Carlisle (Blendify) changed the task status from Unknown Status to Unknown Status.Jun 29 2019, 2:19 AM

This task is being closed because the BGE has been removed in Blender 2.8.
