Crash happens in bmesh, but from bevel modifier evaluation it seems, so I guess it’s a report for you @howardt?

Also tried opening with 2.77a, remove bevel, save, re-open with current master (works OK), add back bevel modifier, instant crash. Same when trying to apply bevel from EditMode tool (ctrl-B).

And C.object.data.validate() with relevant object selected does not report any issue either.

thanks for the check bastien! I just tested adding a bevel on a default cube, save and reload, that doesn't crash, so there must be something specific about the geometry in that file that triggers the crash (or possibly some other factor, like a material or uv)
