Blender Version
Broken: 2.78rc, Newly created “transparent” object cannot make older objects visible
Worked: (optional)

The old objects created before the transparent objects is not visible inside the transparent object.

Based on a (as simple as possible) attached .blend file with minimum amount of steps

  1. Create an mesh object(say cube A)
  2. Create another object(B) and set its transparency with alpha value set to around 0.5 under Blender Render
  3. put cube A inside to B and A become invisible( in material mode)
  4. Create another object(C)
  5. Put C inside into B but it is visible.

Event Timeline

I think this is a long-standing 'problem' (not sure how easy it would be to fix it once and for all -- or if there's another solution to this), but there is a workaround though of the top of my head:

Thanks a lot but just wonder why blender did not script a "Refresh" button to automatically re-order the things under the hood?

I agree this kind of Bug should be removed at least for 2.8x. The rewrites will bring their new bug inherent to the new code designs. So it would be good to at least remove the long standing one before adding more long standing bugs.

We are not going to implement alpha sorting in 2.7x because it requires deep changes, and that effort is better spent on 2.8x.
