Cannot reproduce that here (linux), maybe an OSX issue? @brecht, @MikeErwin, mind trying to reproduce? Thanks.
I can't redo the problem either, on OS X 10.12. Is this using a build from builder.blender.org or somewhere else? Maybe try a new build in case it was a temporary problem?
If it's a custom build you might want to try making a clean build. If it's one from builder.blender.org, it might be something specific to your settings, attaching the
userpref.blend
andstartup.blend
from this folder would help:Today build hash
9ea71bc
from builder.blender.org :The same issue.
You are right :) both of these files (
userpref.blend
andstartup.blend
) causes the problem. Hmm, the question is why the official build is fine with the same files? But there is thousands of much more interesting Q on this world ...
Thanks for help.

Not sure if there's still some issue here. If so, please attach those files so we can investigate further.
As for difference between official build and buildbot one is that official builds do not include third party addons and it's possible that you've got some addon enabled which un-register function causes a crash.
Seems to me easier close this task.
I will create a new userpref.blend and startup.blend files.
If the problem appear again I will open new task (or should I continue in this closed thread?).
Thank you.

Better to create a new report then.
