Blender Version
Broken:
e8299c8
(last version, dowloaded on 2017/01/26) and previousesShort description of error
My old version used to work, then, one day, it started doing this issue:
when you switch from Blender to another windows (on Windows), for example if you want to watch a tutorial while Blendering, Blender closes as soon as you click on the icon on the traybar. The same happens even when Blender is still on top. I've tryed to udpdate to the last version doing a clean restart (cleaning the Blender folder in %appdata% and using CCleaner to clean the reg) but still the same issue come truth. No matter what you do, when you left-click on the icon inside the traybar (near the start button and its search textbox for Cortana in Windows 10), the pocess die. It happens even when you switch with Alt+Tab.
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Blender will quit.

I have Windows 10 64 bits and I switch between apps all the time and I had never had this error.
Do you see any additional information in the crash log?
Added subscriber: @TheOnlyJoey
Can not reproduce, does it also happen for you on 2.78a?
I had the same problem on the older version, can't remeber the id version.
At first it used to work as always, then it started doing this (maybe after a Windows update).
Would you please tell me where to locate the crash log in order to send you useful (I hope) information?
You can find the crash file in the temporary folder that you have defined in Blender.
If you can find it, try to look for a file with the same same of you current open blender file in all system folders.
If you had this problem with previous versions, you can try:
I had some problems (not only in Blender) in my system after some "big" Windows 10 updates, but after some update revert and apply new patches all system worked.
Hello,
I solved my problem by doing these operations:
I want to try if the issue is gone forever or if it will come back with the next restart, that's why I'm not closing the topic yet.
Please wait until I declare it's solved :D

I am closing this for now if you find that it is not resolved then we can reopen this task.
Not solved yet.
The problem came back and I can't solve it anymore with the previous trick.
I don't know how to use Blender this way, I can't save and load eveytime I need to use another window :(

Try using this DLL-file download.blender.org/ftp/sergey/softwaregl/win64/opengl32.dll
This will cause Blender to bypass using you GPU and render everything on the CPU.
This will mean that things will be slow but will be able to tell us if it is a hardware/driver issue.
I'm using (my bad) an old Acer Aspire 5742 (Intel Core i3 with integrated GPU) so Blender did never use the GPU rendering on this computer.
I've downloaded anyway the dll and placed it inside the Blender directory, nothing has changed.
Blender doesn't crash. It just closes as when you click the red X on the right corner (without asking to save or not, as once upon a time). My drivers are not longer updated by the manufacturer, so there wasn't changes on my drivers.
Until I don't change window, Blender runs correctly. I can even do a rendering. No hardware issues.
There must be something software (except my driver), don't know what.
I can't find the log files :(
Here's an addictional video so you may notice, eventually, something:
https://youtu.be/gnQqO3CCMjY
Please help :(
Notice: maybe it started acting like that since I've installed the software Cura, I don't know if they share some dlls or what else.
@Joysurrender Why don't try to start blender using a command window:
Try to reproduce the error, and if you get a crash, go to your default temp path and look for a crash file.
Note: To find temp path, go to user preferences file section.
Doing so, what I see in the command line is this exception:
Warning! Legacy WGL is unable to select between OpenGL versions.found bundled python: C:\Program Files\BlenderFoundation\Blender\2.78\python
Error: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION
It says so when I start Blender and not when it closes.
I discovered where's the temp folder (thanks to your information) but what I see is a tail of empy folders. The last one was "blender_a06528" but it has absolutely nothing inside...
Anyway, I think it should be something managing windows: if I close the User Preferences window, Blender quits (well, it's another form window, not inside Blender, that's why I guess)

@Joysurrender please attach system-info.txt (from Blender's Help menu).
Run without the software GL dll.
Without GL dll:
found bundled python: C:\Program Files\BlenderFoundation\Blender\2.78\python
It seems like it's the same error.
This is the system-info.txt:

Maybe I temporaly solved my problem:
I ran the program as administrator and it doesn't close.
Even if my default account user is in sudoers (I don't know if we can tell so on Windows eheh) when I run the program by double click on the icon, it has the problem. I've set it automatically run as administrator, for now it seems like it's working!
I'll let you know!
Changed status from 'Open' to: 'Resolved'
Yeah, Blender is working since that change.
The problem seems to be solved.
Thank you for all your support.
