VSE - MetaStrip Opacity Ignored in Render
Closed, ResolvedPublic

System Information
OS X 10.11 NVIDIA GeForce 9400
OS X 10.12 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M

Blender Version
Broken: 2.78c
Worked: ???

Short description of error
"Scene" strip closed into Metastrip ignores animated opacity in render result for extended frames of metastrip.

Left side = preview / Right side = render
(3rd frame in gif shows incorrect opacity in render)

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • Insert Scene strip (or Linked Scene Strip)
  • Close Strip in Metastrip
  • Extend length of metastrip
  • insert keyframes for opacity in extended frames

Works in VSE preview (its displayed correctly), but its ignored in render for frames that are over strip (scene) length.

The only one situation that it is previewed, but not rendered is animated opacity of metastrip with scene (or linked scene) in it.

Thanks for help.

I'm confirmed this bug, got even troublesome in master

Aaron Carlisle (Blendify) lowered the priority of this task from 90 to 50.Apr 15 2017, 11:06 PM

I've had similar issues, in metastrips the opacity keyframes seem to disappear when the strip is condensed, reappear when expanded, and also I think it is related to the phenomenon that when scene strip (i.e. from scene A) is added to a new scene (i.e. scene B) as a metastrip (i.e. "use sequence") keyframes for both transform and opacity will become lost or corrupt for playback or rendering in scene B when the meta version is moved to in the timeline. It makes it impossible to rely on meta or scene strips at all for their intended purpose.

VSE Metastrips and scene strips both seem to loose keyframe data.

Experienced it with 2.78c, 2.79testbuild,rc1
Running in Linux 64 bit (Debian Stretch)

Should work now. Demo file is broken in 2.80, but I tried to replicate it.
