Freezing #51486

OS: Windows 10 Education (Version: 1703, OS Build: 15063.296)
CPU: Intel Core i7 6700k @ 4.00GHz
GPU: 1024MB ATI AMD Radeon HD 5800 Series (Sapphire/PCPartner)
RAM: 16 GB
MOBO: Asus z170-a

Blender Version
Broken: 2.78c (Date: 2017-02-24 14:33 Hash: e92f235283)
Worked: Just a week ago.

Short description of error
After a few seconds of sometimes a few minutes, Blender just freezes. Alt+F4 doesn't work. Neither does SuperF4's Ctrl+Alt+F4.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Just rotate the view and it'll freeze.

What happens if you update to the latest buildbot version?
Does it still crash if you remove the ocean modifier from the plane?

I guess it had something to do with the Ocean Modifier, then. Wierd....

Sounds like an OpenGL bug. In order to ocnfirm that please get opengl32.dll from http://download.blender.org/ftp/sergey/softwaregl/ and put it next to blender.exe. This will switch blender to fully software OpenG mode which is slower but free from any possible bugs in driver.

Please also make sure you've got latest video driver installed (from GPU vendor site, do not rely on windows update).

This will switch blender to fully software OpenG mode which is slower but free from any possible bugs in driver. Please also make sure you've got latest video driver installed (from GPU vendor site, do not rely on windows update).

I did that. (I think... I'm not good with drivers...) It made no difference.
