@LazyDodo (LazyDodo) error message seems to imply some missing numpy dll in windows build… Can you please double-check that? thanks.

@mike cassidy (ZalNor) did you try re-downloading and re-installing Blender, just to be sure it’s not some glitch from first installation?

numpy seems fine here, I need better repro steps , what addin is being installed? what version of blender is this on etc? marking as incomplete until more information is supplied.

I did re-install Blender

its was version 2.78c that I am using. I have tried both 32bit and 64 bit versions and having same error message.

it is the Auto-rig-pro addon from BlenderMarket that I have been trying to install

how I tried to install is same as all addons

User preferences - addons - install addon from file

I had the addon on my desktop - selected the .zip folder - add addon from file

the addon appeard, sometimes I had to search for it which was a bit odd never had to do this for any addon

when I click the activate addon check box the error appears

Note - I have not had any trouble with any other addon

I have had some trouble with non-blender based renderers which you can download via the blender website. only one I have tried was Aqsis renderer simillar error

What happens if you switch to the python console and type

import numpy

I havent tried that but will give it a go

ok I've just tried typing in "import numpy" and this is what I got

this was all red like an error

Strange.... if you grab a nightly from same thing?

same message appears. although I unistalled my version of blender and it still has my user settings. how do I delete everything? there must be something stored somewhere this could be the issue?

there's a command line switch for that , blender --factory-startup

also try downloading a different build, if you normally use a 64 bit build, download a 32 bit one, see if that works (or the other way around)

also , do you happen to have anaconda installed?

I wonder if the same error is related to another bug T51446 ?

I have tried both 64bit and 32bit and had the same issue in both.

what is anaconda?

anaconda is open data science platform ( ) that also uses python, but sometimes their setup interferes with our libraries.

I'm rapidly running out of ideas here's some more things you can try

  1. try running process monitor ( ) while trying to load numpy , filter for the blender.exe process, save the data and attach to a post here
  2. Check your virus scanner? maybe it has a false positive and blocked some of the libraries?
  3. Check the windows event logs from around the time you get the error, it may have some additional information

The virus scanner could be the issue. I ran a FixMeStick not long ago and it reported a file as a virus so I told it to block that file but I can't remember if it was this one or not.

No more updates after admitting it could be a virus scanner issue. Closed.
