Blender crashes when I switch Window #51993

System Information:
Ryzen 5 1500x at stock settings
AMD RX 480 4GB at stock settings, drivers up to date.
2x8GB DDR4 RAM at 3000 MHz
Windows 10 Home 64 bits, version 1703.

Blender Version:
2.78c Hash e92f235283

Short description of error:
The program keeps crashing whenever I switch to another application via alt+tab, Windows key+tab or choosing it from the task bar. It doesn't happen, however, when focusing another program in other ways such as running Blender on one half of the screen and the other program on the other. Sometimes it won't crash right away, but it happens more often when using video editing tools, and started happening when I first used them. The screen freezes, and Blender stops working when this happens.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error:
Open blender and change the program with alt+tab, windows key+tab or clicking the program on the task bar. Use the other program for a few seconds, switch to Blender again (it stops working at this point). Crashes happen no matter the file I'm using.

Can you try the latest build from https://builder.blender.org/download/? This sounds similar to #50856 which was fixed.

Problem has not been fixed for me. It still flickers and stops responding everytime i click something and crashes whenever i minimize. I'm using latest 2.79 and a Radeon Vega 64.

I also have this problem. Any new fix for it? Been trying desperately to fix it the past week now.

Me and my friend had the same problem but we fixed it for us. what we found out was that we both had xp pen tablet and a wacom tablet and we both disabled on start up "pentablet sevices". so we enabled it, then we then went to our windows search and searched for "pentablet" application and ran it. You will get a prompt that says "can't detect tablet, please plug it into then open the driver again" just click "ok". And wahlah blender was able to tab out and tab back in again. Hope this helps you guys out ^^

THIS IS THE SOLUTION!

I made an account literally JUST to reply to this... THANK YOU for figuring this out, I was getting unbelievably frustrated because I just installed a new ssd, and migrated everything...
But BLENDER decided to start doing this dumb bug! I dont think I ever would have figured this out. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Ive been striggling a lot with this issue and you came and solve it. I know it's been a while but still I wanna thank you. You're still helping people even after all these years, so thank you so much!
