Blender Internal, depth pass error on edges #52309

Basically the depth pass of blender internal is wrong along edges of geometry.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

In the attached .blend file, I just output the depth pass, get the high frequencies by substracting blurred depth pass, and put a power node (with exponent close to 0) to reveal the error to the eye.

Note: in the file, we can clearly see the error along the edges, but if the camera rotation is set to 0°, then it disappears almost completely.
Note 2: turning off anti-aliasing seems to reduce the error, but not completely.

Some parts of Blender Internal are not fully watertight, and some of the mare quite tricky to solve (there was quite some work on this in the past).

But now Blender Internal is not maintained, we'd rather work on some more engines (like Eevee) than spending hours trying to fix bugs in legacy code. Unless it's a recent regression (which it doesn't seem so), we can't deal with it.

So thanks for the report, but closing it now.
