Broken: 2.79rc 5e9132b
Worked: 2.78b 3c04373

Short description of error
First trial of 2.79rc and there's no OpenCL available in the Cycles Compute Device option under the system settings of the user preferences.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Open user preferences

The FirePro does have GCN, see here https:*www.amd.com/Documents/2795_W5000_DataSheet_R3.pdf
OpenCL has been working with my pair of pitcairn W5000s for many versions of Blender so far...

Sorry, my mistake, it's only GCN 1.0.
So, am I correct in thinking you've removed support for GCN 1.0?
There's no mention not being backward compatible in the release notes for 2.79...? If my above assumption is correct, maybe that should be added.

on the page i linked , the W7000 is listed as 'GCN 1st Gen.' so although it 'does have GCN' is does not have GCN 2 which is the minimal version blender now requires.

we brought the opencl support up to par with cuda in 2.79, sadly this broke support for gcn 1 cards. This is mentioned both in the [blender manual ]] and the [ https:*wiki.blender.org/index.php/Dev:Ref/Release_Notes/2.79/Cycles | release notes
