System Information
MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2016)
Operating system and graphics card
Mac OS Sierra 10.12.6
Radeon Pro 460 4096 MB
Intel HD Graphics 530 1536 MB

Blender Version
Broken:
Blender Version 2.78 (2.78 2017-02-27), Blender

Short description of error
Using the MacBook Pinch scaling (closing or spreading two fingers on the touchpad) instead of the"+" or "-" causes crashes in any of the side menus (T menu, N Menu, Outliner, Nodes Editor). Basically, any editor except the 3D Editor ends in an infinite wait symbol followed by a lock up or crash.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Based on a (as simple as possible) attached .blend file with minimum amount of steps

A. Nodes Editor Crash

  1. Place cursor in the Nodes Editor
  2. Place thumb and forefinger on the MacBook Pro Touchpad and spread or close the two fingers zoom in or out accordingly
  3. System shows a terminal wait swirly symbol

B. "T" and "N" Windows Crash

  1. Place cursor in the "T" or "N" windows
  2. Place thumb and forefinger on the MacBook Pro Touchpad and spread or close the two fingers zoom in or out accordingly
  3. System shows a terminal wait swirly symbol

C. Outliner Menu Crash

  1. Place cursor in the Outliner Menu window or any of the Outliner Sub Windows
  2. Place thumb and forefinger on the MacBook Pro Touchpad and spread or close the two fingers zoom in or out accordingly
  3. System shows a terminal wait swirly symbol

I can't reproduce this problem, in Blender 2.78c or latest master, with MacBook Pro (Late 2015). I tried zooming all the way in and out in these various editors.

Some things to try:

There could be various Blender user preferences influencing this, or maybe addons, macOS system preferences or hardware differences.

Some things to try: * Blender 2.79 release candidate: http://download.blender.org/release/Blender2.79/ * Do the same after "File > Load Factory Settings" (this is temporary if you don't save anything, just close Blender and reopen to keep your settings) There could be various Blender user preferences influencing this, or maybe addons, macOS system preferences or hardware differences.

Hi there I have never posted to this, but the problem above is plaguing me on 2.8. I saw you couldn’t replicate it, but for me it’s if I have animation and I pinch to zoom in the any timeline or graph editor. It will crash. Without animation it won’t. It will just zoom infinitely in until the timeline or graph editor or whatever is unusable without resetting the zoom from a menu.

It shows some of the odd behavior if I pinch to zoom on the materials panel and related panels. The text will get impossibly big with barely any movement on my track pad but it won’t break the program and I can zoom back to normal.

I use a 2018 Mac book pro with all the fancy stuff that it could have had.

Anyways if there is a way to disable pinch to zoom in blender that would help for now. Though it would be sad not to have it.
